Bridging the Gap: Deciphering the Language of Different Generations

To find out if language can make Aaron knows. What that means crazy I don't know well we're in Aaron's crib it's very nice yeah do you? Know what crib is that's my that's my house good job my and Aaron is definitely not a yepy. Aaron has taken a chill pill and he does not have fomo and he is red I don't think you do do you the fear of missing out I don't know and then maybe after episode we'll go outside and catch hands. I'm seeing if you actually know some of these off the top of my head catch. Catch hands after this or it the phrase. Is also catch these hands catch hands we going to fight good job man fight you know some of these I'm impressed yeah all right so let's see if Aaron knows some more here so oh boy Aaron's like oh all? 

Right so as we all know language changes between the generations and generations usually are about 10 increments the Next Generation that's to come up is Generation beta we are currently in generation Alpha generation beta baby should be born around the year 2025. Which is only wow shockingly two years away if Aaron has his way he may have one the first gen beta babies? That's great H yeah yeah I know that. That is great isn't it no so to help Aaron understand his future children he needs to be able to understand the current generation. Oh jeez I'm going to give him some words and let's see I'm going to put the word on the screen for those of you at home um I'm going to do this in post so you can see what the word is and then see if you can Define it before Aaron can Define it all. Right all right so so the first word that I want Aaron to tell me and first off Aaron I'm going to give you the word okay you tell me what generation's from there's X Y and Z and Alpha and a uhhuh but where did x i okay. 

X YZ Alpha but what what are the time frames for them. You want all the time frames for all the different. Different uh Generations okay all right let's pull up for Aaron so he I don't even know yeah I didn't even know there's this many already dude it's every 10 years. Oh and Gen X is a little longer Gen X uh technically is and so I'm doing the big ones I'm not doing like the small like little ones here. Uh so Gen X technically is 65 to 80 x is 65 okay Millennials. 81 to 96 so we're Y correct yep so what was that again that's why Millennials 81 96 Z is 97 to 2012 and alpha. 

Is to present day till till present day till about 2025? Okay oh gosh okay all right X 80s Y is 90s Z is the 2000s and Alpha is now yep. Pretty simple right okay all right so the first word. 

A A A V A a ve yep. I I'm lost what generation what generation Z is that your final answer yeah it is z h good. Job wow what does it mean I don't know. I don't know a m can you use it in a sentence. Could I use it in a sentence yeah okay I could um or will that give it away too much no because this will I have to use another word? Okay to do this because that's the way this can work literally. 

This only works with another word that I have to use buson is a slang term that originated in Avi and has gained popularity. Busen uhhuh is another term for no is buson is another word in the list yes so bus is a slang term that originated in oh so it's a show or a book or something no what. That's a I love how flustered you're getting I don't. Know I know what buson is okay we'll get there in a moment but take a guess what's a I the only thing I can think of is it if it comes. Is it a person no so a is short for African-American vernacular English?

You know what I'm talking about for like the midwestern is is that a Midwest or anything where they op yep so and I oop. What the heck how about this one big yikes Big Y God? I've heard this one so many times at youth group so I mean I have to say that's an alpha one yep it is I gave it away I said youth group youth group but it's it's funny because it's like um it's like you. 

Uh um gosh how do I put this because it was so bad it was so bad well it was a Babylon B thing okay where it had. John MacArthur um talking in like the new like. The younger generation slang or whatever and he says big yikes in as for of his things so it's just I guess it's like a reaction of like something being like. Why do I want to say like overwhelming or just like something's like whoa like calm down or getting? Too worked up on on something is so it's used to emphasize a cringeworthy or awkward situation yes it signifies a significant level of discomfort or unease yes there. We yep that's that's that's the good way to put it because is the way to put it yep like. 

You know you I'm not saying this ever happened but like you walk in and you see like Aaron sitting down with his lady on the couch and go big yikes big yikes I'm out of here I'm uncomfortable see. You yep all right this word dip dip. There could be a few things or a couple things off the top of my head okay but what generation dip so like tobacco dip it's a slang word not a tobacco dip I guess it's dip. I would say Z no it's l Alpha no '90s. It's X it's X yep they well okay now let's have to see what does dip mean like you're you're leaving yeah yeah I'm about to dip I'm out of here that's from that's from Gen X Gen X whoa.

It 100 I mean I would imagine it just means like giving it your all well who's it from what in uh 90s. Why yes H it is from the Y what now what do you said give it your all yeah like 100% like? Uh so keep it 100 keep it real. It means staying true to yourself your values respecting ours and acting with Integrity whoa okay no then I definitely did not get that all right how about this one feels. Feels so like you got me in the feels you got me in the tugging my heart strings a little bit here okay what generational thing um o I'm either on y or Z on that one pick one. 

Say why you're correct yeah so cuz was that. Was something I feel like my generation would say a lot would say more often yeah it got me in the fields or whatever uh main? Course main course mhm like a meal someone. Would you you might say that your Bay is a main course? Do you know what don't know how I feel about that it'd? What that means a less wholesome thing mean someone who's extremely attractive that you really to take uh bite out them it says yes yeah yeah okay yeah that's that's an our? My home slice so my best friend sort of thing all right what Generation. Y no x x okay I had I knew it had to be from one of those but I was trying to think of like all right. My homes yeah okay no yeah um that's yeah how about this one thirst trap thirst trap. 

Yep people will sometimes post thirst traps online so I'd imagine it's something someone's thirsty for but what okay what does thirsty mean you really want or yeah like a very I would say. I don't know isn't that what thirsty is that you're like you're like really really want something it's usually not something or someone yeah yeah so thirst usually is a way to describe lusting after someone usually desperately okay so what's a thirst trap. It's like a succubus yeah okay uh you describe photos or videos people post with the obvious or subtle of getting others to lust after them post comments that boost their ego. Oh that's a thirst so like maybe some like I know like on Instagram you'll see that randomly where it's like what was it the one where it's like they hold up photo like a not a photo like a ring light in front of them and they're fully clothed and they put it behind head and all a sudden they're like less clothed and then so you you just see the silhouette of their body in that and then so like that's a thirst trap or they'll dance whatever there's a bunch that it goes on social media uh there one it's uh it's a farmer and his grandma and she's always like Ying him stop post posting thirst traps as he's like doing you know weird dances they're not really thirst traps but that's funny it's great it's it's entertaining and then when he does stuff she'll like throw things at him and whatever but what generation coined that one a thirst trrap m Z no Alpha no why yes.

Your boss would be the sigma the leader yep. A term used by GEM gen Alpha is slang to refer someone who portrays themselves as dominant and a leader within a group or social setting. This is dumb this is what this is the language you have to understand to be able to talk to your future kids no no okay I will teach them the little knowledge that I know of my own language but they're going to pick it up from school. Bouie Bouie is a shortened version of an old French word oh and it's used to describe someone or something that's high class it's typically used for someone rich and Chic yeah. 

It's more of a mockery of someone trying to give off the imagery the image of being wealthy. Nice how do you even spell that one well there's two different spellings of it and depending on which spelling use depends on the meaning so there's b o u g i e that's one that's typically used for someone rich and Chic y b o u j e e oh I'm sorry b o u j is the someone rich and chic I got mixed up my page and b o u g i e is the mockery of someone trying to give off the image wanting to look wealthy H yeah yeah. We also have gen Z to think for other wonderful sling terms such as Karen that's Z yep as well as sus. Suspicious yeah yep we have Gen Y to thank for field literally. 

Basic literally basic uh adulting and woke great whoa. Y really we have X to than for things such as psych bogus crib. Uh dude Rock tripping disc yepy headbanger and chill pill I like I like those do you know what any of those mean is a question. Yeah like was chill I figured this relax calm yeah I figured these were like in everyone's vernacular that's why I use them okay like yepy okay. That I don't know oh you don't I should have asked you this one then nope it's um it's an acronym of young urban professional is used to define young ambitious and well educated State dwellers who had a professional career and affluent life lifestyle it's mainly in derogatory sense as the yepy has been commonly made fun of in pop culture this.
