This week we are going on assignment! We start out about talking about a new app on the app stores for both Android and iOS called Veebs. The claim of the application is that it allows you to select your values and then when you go shopping you scan what you are going to buy to determine if the company aligns with your values. We talk about the app at first and then go on location to a local grocery store to see what Aaron eats in a typical week and if his grocery list is safe or not.

Wonderful Stance. Aaron. Welcome to this week's episode of Us Awards podcast as uh we're talking about something that is kind of hitting, I guess uh a popular mainstream. It just came out a new app that just came out for both Android and Apple. Um And we're gonna try doing an in-store demo with Aaron's shopping list.
Aaron will have to use my phone unless he wants to pony up 99 cents himself. I know it might break the bank for you. I know I get it. Uh But I, I got a subscription so you can use my phone or I can record on yours, whatever or you can use your phone, but we'll figure it out. Ok. Anyway, so there's a new app out there called, do you know what it's called?
Oh, it's called vibes, vibe, vibes or vibes. Yeah, ve ebs. Oh What? It's been cooler with the Z. Yeah, whatever. So it's uh kind of AAA thing that came up real recently on things where essentially you can set your values in the app. So when you first sign up and I just did this so I could make sure I understood what I was talking about so I wasn't just speaking out of nowhere. Right. He, he, or you're speaking out of somewhere?
Well, it, it, what it does is when you sign up you get a screen and it says select, well, drag and drop your value packs. Ok. So right now where this hit the news was? Oh, this is the new conservative thing. Da da, da, da blah, blah, blah. Well, guess what if you are very concerned about social justice justice justice? Yeah. Ok. If you're very, if you're liberal, if you're very concerned about the climate emergency or if you're very concerned about LGBT qi A plus, you can also use this app because guess what? It has settings for you as well. So the packs that it has that you select as your value are conservative supports veterans.
Those ones I just read for you and America first. I selected as my two pacs to select as conservative and supports veterans. Um, me first, yeah, I'll get yelled at later from certain people and be like, I don't care. So here's how this works.
Eric, you go up to a product that you want to buy. Ok, let's say my Coke Zero bottle right here, which is empty now. So, you know, cool. Whatever you in the app, you hit scan item, it's gonna bring up your camera, you scan the barcode and he goes, hey, guess what? And probably because this is sold as an individual says it's missing. So I'm going to, um, try with this, which is out of, uh, oh, this might be a single one too.
No, here we go. So now I scanned it. Right? Coke Zero. So they just don't know about this Coke, uh Ultimate Legend Zero. Ok. So I remember what I said it, I added as my value pack.
What I add, but I had veterans and conservative. Ok. So when, if you pay the 99 cents a month, that's not much right.
They'll give you a score, a value score. A V score. They call it, which is a weird name to call it. Honestly, that gives you depending on who you are. I've heard certain people go. Oh, that gives me other imagery thoughts and I'm like, hm, dirty, dirty mind, get your head out of the gutter. Exactly. Um, but it's called the V score value score. Ok. And it tells you how closely this company aligns with my values. You want to guess what Coke's values are?
Alignment are not with yours. What's the score? Zero? I, I don't know, take a guess of the 20 one a little bit higher. 44 which gives a score of four, right? Ok. So you're like, well, cool, that sucks. Right. But here's what it does then down below it goes, hey, you know what, here's replacement suggestions with a higher score. So then you could look through and you can, it, it's gonna start at the, the top and go down. So what they recommend as the highest score is something called from shop, right?
Wike Fern Food Corporation. But you know what gets close to that at an 81 out of 100? What? Huh? Well, then, so then I can look and say, oh, they go is more aligned to these values. Ok, cool. Now I can go back and maybe buy if I really wanted to or I could continue to buy the Pepsi if I wanted to or the Coke. Uh Pepsi by the way is on the same score as Coke with the 44. But you get all these different things. So, so funny you get, you know food club, you get diet right which I can't believe that's still soda, right? Soda. You know that sort of RC Cola that's still a soda.
Doctor Pepper has a Cola. Yeah that it's yeah uh but Doctor Pepper is right there in like 63. Getting better. Uh XVI at 67. My brand soda 74 public brand 79 Shasta 81.
I don't know what that is but it's gonna give you stuff and you'll be like, OK, cool. Now I know what it is. So you know what you're kind of how these scores change align with what you do. Yeah. Why are you laughing?
I'm just excited to start scanning stuff. So what I'm gonna do is I'm I'm going to update my value packs, right? Yeah just for fun. Ok so I gotta come in here I gotta drag these things. I'm gonna go uh these obviously are not me.
Ok, obviously liberal social justice uh what should be my last one LGBT or climate emergency. I'm gonna let you pick this one and we gotta be gotta be sensitive about the environment here man. So climate. Yeah. Ok so I'm gonna update my value packs now I'm gonna rescan my uh like Coca guess what? 73? It's a good score, bro. So it, you know, it's like uh so I'm gonna update my value packs again back to normal.
Get out of here. What I find funny um when you're going through the setup, I took a video of while I was doing the setup. Mhm. When it goes select your gender, there's only two options.
I was rather triggered by that. Were you rather triggered by that? Yeah, it didn't even say other fair enough. It didn't say other, didn't give the option for it. Hm. So this has been, you know, kind of hitting the internet by storm.
People are going, oh, this is a new way to block and a new way to boycott it brings up the question. Should we even do boycotts in the first place? I uh I'm, I'm not against it but I'm not like for it per se like I'm indifferent like I could care less. Like all right. If you want to just go support companies that just more align with stuff you believe in? Cool, whatever. But is that, is that a boycott or is that a? Right. Right. That's my thing. Like, if you're just, like, you know what, I'm going to just put my money where my values are, is that a, is that a boycott? Because at that point you're just supporting the companies that you want to support that are close to you. You're not, you're not actively um trying to not use the other company, aren't you though? Ok. Let me ask you this hypothetical situation here, right?
You scan Coke and now I'm never buying Coke again. It comes up at 44 right? Yeah. Never again. Am I buying Coke? But let's say they make some changes and all of a sudden they're now at 70 you switch and buy Coke again. But isn't that the point of a boycott?
The point of the boycott is like to put them out, like, look like what exactly exactly like that. That's the point of like where people actively say we're not going to buy it. We're gonna make fun of it. This isn't like saying we're gonna make fun of Coke, you know, uh there was, you look at the meme videos that came out of the whole Bud Light situation, they're just all sorts all over the place, right? I say they did, I'd imagine because what Bud Light did try to come back and change, change up. Uh, what they, they stopped, uh, it stopped having, like, Dylan Mulvaney as, like, the spokesperson and then they tried to do something where it was more American whatever. And then people, I still didn't even seem to care for it.
They tried to take a step back but then I, yeah, that didn't work out for him either. Yeah, that's, that's true. So, I guess, would that be the difference then? For, like, as far as boycotting? Because it's like, even though they try to backtrack and be like, hey, no, never mind. Oh, yeah, people are still, like, they're actively, like, meaning it, they're actively campaigning against it.
They're actively not doing, you know, anything with them. Uh, whereas this, it's, you're just kind of redirecting your money. I think that there, there's a slight philosophical difference between the two but they look, they can look from the outside like the same you can from the outside. It can look like, nope, I'm going to, uh, whatever. So there, there is that difference. So I'm, I'm like, I'm against, like, just active least, like sitting outside and being like, no, I'm not, you know, don't buy this. Don't buy this. You know, that's, that's what I think of like, picketing and boycotting closely tied together.
This is the average Joe going, no, I'm not gonna buy it. I'll buy this instead and see what happens. Now, here's the question that I have about this thing. OK. Yeah, cool. Cool to see some of this stuff. But here's my question, where are they getting this data for, for them to make this value score? Very true. Is it being provided by public data? Is it being provided by private data? How, where is this coming from? I imagine. Did you look into it?
They don't say, oh, how can I trust you exactly. Hm. You know, and then vibes, they know what they're doing because they picked up as their spokesperson. Bre Teri. No idea who that is. Uh Teresi. She's a model and a social media influencer though. Makes sense. Right. But she was one of those people that back in April, she was shooting cases of Bud Light. Ok. And she's now one of their, and she's now their spokeswoman for the app for vibes. And as Newsweek spins it, the Newsweek article is hilarious. Conservatives. Conservatives have a new way of avoiding woke companies. Exactly. So it's gonna be, um, yeah, I mean, they give you your options to, you.
Come on now and, you know, and then it's like vives. Now there's an app for partisan shopping. Oh, no. So, you know, go with it at a thing and you could see if vibes if they have your products that you use in there because you can sign for the free account and then if they have them, you don't get the value score on the free account. You only get that on the 99 cents a month account. Um, but the nice thing is, subscriptions are really easy to cancel.
So, you know, not a, not a thing that, um, but it, it's entertaining because, like, there's all these fact check articles is there really an app that lets you check, check the wokeness of groceries. It's like, really darn right there he is. Yeah. So, ok. Um, there's so many store names. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. Amazon. Oh, man. Dollar General. Oh. Are you setting up your app store right now? Oh, so you're selecting your six top favorite stores? Yeah. How do I Walmart Mexico. Yep. There's so many stinking stores. How am I supposed to pick six of them? You just pick six?
So, let me ask you this, Mr Johnson. Yeah. Would you, would this be something that you would probably use? Probably not? Why not? Huh. Oh, I, what I mean, I guess for like, the stores that it's got listed on here. Yeah. But you can scan any item. Even if you're not at that store, then I have to choose my favorite stores because what's gonna happen is they'll send you, like, if there's alternatives at those stores, they'll send you to get those alternatives. Hm. But, but what, trying to think of, what do we even shop for?
Oh, I guess that's what we're gonna find out shortly here. I mean, Hot Wheels and we'll definitely have to scan hot wheels and legos and uh, you know, the good old, the, the, you know, I don't know the whiskey and beers and, uh, uh, the, the pre, the pretzel dots. Oh God. Check out the dots, stuffs, all the healthy stuff. All right. So you said you probably wouldn't use something like this?
Well, let me ask you this because this is, you have to scan it and then just, yeah, but once you scan it once, then you kind of know. Yeah. So let me ask you this what? This is a hypothetical. I know now. But if you scan something, you see something that just scores abysmally low, just grinds my gears. Will it just grind your gears or will you change something or will you just grind your gears? What do you mean like would I grind my gears or change something? Just buy something different? Yeah. So would you buy something different or would you be like I'm buying this even?
I want to buy. This depends on what it is. Oh, so there's a, depends what it is criteria. I think. So at the moment it's, it's one of the things that sucks because it's like, no, but this, it would be more so outside the food stuff. It would be just more like items, not food items. OK. Uh Like if you take Legos? Yeah. And let's say just terrible, what else are you gonna get other than the LEGOS?
What else makes the same kind of product. I'm sure there are companies that make LEGO compatible devices because, oh, you know, that's actually kind of funny. There is this, um, this thing that Brewer had shown me where they make, like, military stuff out of like, models, like tanks and planes and all, all these other, like, war, war LEGO sets. LEGO doesn't actually do it because they will not do military lego set stuff. Mhm. So this, whoever these guys are, I don't know where they get the pieces from but they're freaking expensive. So it's like, I mean, Legos are also now very expensive and it's kind of crazy. So there's an alternative out there called wei Brick and they're 100% compatible with Legos. We, yeah, what the heck? And they have all like the special brick types and everything and the normal brick types and, and of course they have their kits, their designer sets so they can build like a rocket model.
I just pulled up the website. Yeah. Aircraft, a beach two Spirit aircraft and all that. That's kind of cool. So you got, you got options out there options. So food probably won't change too much but stuff outside of food you would probably change.
I mean, I know it's food, like food would be easy to change. Ok. So I'm saying like, yeah, so like with stuff like Legos or whatever, like if there, if there wasn't anybody that can compete with them. I might not change that. All right, let's say, let's say for today's video.
What, what for today's no, go on. No, no. I want to hear your thing first. I wanna hear your thing first. Say it. I got a message from somebody that we both know and it involves music stuff and they sent me a post of, it was, it was during Pride Month. Ok? And it was a post of a symbol and it, like the symbol, it had rings of the rainbow around it.
He's like, well, looks like you're gonna have to start getting different symbols and I was just, like, pay it. But there are some of the best symbols out there. There are, but there are so many different, like amazing symbol brands out there. But I was just like, did you, did you guys have to get into that stuff? Yeah. I kind of, and even this app kind of falls into that whole concept of it.
Well, grow, go broke. You know, that phraseology and look at Disney, they're, they're losing a ton of money right now with their movies that are not doing so hot. They can't even do anything trying to bring back Snow White was a snow white Sleeping beauty. It was snow white in some drawers. Yes. Ok. That's right. Yeah. Well, all that's on hold right now because of the whole strike situation and everything. But that's a whole, but the movie's done. Isn't it? I thought it was still filming.
Oh, I thought it was done filming. Ok. Regardless of the fact stupid. Regardless of the fact for today's video for today. Great band. What I said for today's video, I didn't say, but I got separate it.
Let's do this, let's do it. Let's, let's get the list of what you would normally buy in a week, a week. We'd have to probably ask your mother. So. Ok. And oh, anything that scores below 50 we have to find a replacement for. Gosh. Dang it. Oh, what the heck. So 50 or above. Good to go. Ok. Yeah. 49 or below. 49 or below is replaced for today for today.
Let's see how much of the stuff you have to replace it and let's see how much of it isn't even found in the app. Hm. Good point. Good point because for example, this ultimate Coke zero that wasn't in there yet. It wasn't in there but all Cokes like gonna be the same. I know but they didn't have this U PC, but that's why I was able to scan the Coke Zero. Cherry Coke Zero and it came back and said, oh yeah, I know who this is. So that's what we're gonna do. So when you see us next here in the next like couple of seconds here, Aaron's gonna look different because he's actually gonna clean up.
I, you know, there's a difference between I don't have to go out. So I'm not gonna take a shower, you know, I know then but now that I have to go out, I mean I just, I, I, I'm not blaming you, I'm not, I'm not trying to shame you, sir. I'm just, that's funny I was gonna tell you gonna mention that because I was like I ain't gonna be in the same clothes when I go out because I need to get clean. Yep. So when you see this in a little bit, I'm gonna look exactly the same. Um but it's mostly gonna be Aaron that you're gonna be seeing as we go through his grocery list and uh see, well, I'll, I'll pick out a few things that I do too, but, well, fif or, or above only today. So that means technically by that list, I would have to find a replacement for a replacement for code. Yep. Hm. It means I can't go Pepsi products, can't go Coke products and that's like every everything. Yeah. So uh uh yeah, I'll, I'll, I'm gonna find a replacement for Coke product. And wait, what was Doctor Pepper? They were in the sixties?
Bet I'm good on that. I like Dr Pepper. So that's, that's what we're gonna do for the rest of this uh episode, this video and some experiments as well because we get to play with our new little devices, devices that we haven't used yet that finally got them working all the way properly and we potential will potentially get used in the next month after. Yeah. So that's also why I wanna test it out now and because what happened is these can record to, they can record on my phone, but they can also record on themselves as well. That's awesome. So, yeah, we'll see us in a few minutes and, uh, we'll be right back as we take care in grocery shopping. Hm. Oh yeah, it's gonna be fun.
Maybe see you in a minute. So what alcohol first? Crikey whiskey? What? Whiskey? Uh uh, that's our jackets, of course. Where, where is it right there? This is fine. Ok. Oh, how did you scan the bar code? I, I was even is, is it within your range? It's 62 man. There you go. Who scores higher? Who scores higher? Yeah. For, for what? On the app? Who scores higher? Uh, go Southern Comfort. Fireball. But this is, what's the score? Oh, Buffalo Trace. These are all 67. Ok. But what's it? What did they get again? 62. Yeah, Buffalo trays. What, what, what was the profiles that you set up?
Was America first veteran and then conservative. So, so yeah, so when I scanned it then that gives me, why did I give you 44? Oh, that's below your 50 mark. So when I scanned Jack Daniels, that gave me a wonderful, uh, what did it give you, uh, 59 59. That's because mine is just conservative and veterans not, I don't have the American first profile on it. Uh, but interesting. So it give me lower because of that also.
I went conservative then. Uh, where did you put 1st 1st? What? Orange you Jamison? All right. That's, oh, no. Oh, gosh. What? Oh, I see the red, the red right there.
There's no point now. I'm never getting Jamie Kobe. The, what's the higher score? It goes back to like Southern Comfort at 67. But wait, wait, so I gotta find, so they don't have, what, what about Jim bean? Jim bean? 04 roses too. Yeah. 04 roses product missing.
We don't have you. Uh but try, try another gin bean. Oh yeah. Try another gin bean because they might not have that particular one. You know, like the coke. What if, what if I like this?
Double oak more than the Woodford Reserve. Double oat. You have to. How do you pick it up? 40. Ok, forget about you.
I want so the same as my Coke. 44. 0 40 44. All right. See about your four roses. Ok. Your glass. All right. Yeah, it's glass. Hey man. Some places so is cheap, man. They do plastic. All right. So that one isn't but try the original. How do you catch it so fast? Searching its database? Oh no, they don't only have four roses. It four roses are just, they're dead. To me. No, you can add it now. But how on the screen it says help us add it.
Yeah, but I, I don't know anything about it. Follow the instructions. Wait, I take a picture of the front of the baggage type. You link the product very much existing brand. What brand? I don't know. Just yeah, take a picture. Not of you. I am for us.
It's here you go. Uh sure it's allow, um, link the product to an existing brand in our catalog. Uh, if you don't, that's who makes it? Oh, I don't think I know these things, you know, uh, distilled in age by four roses. Ok. Well, then, then don't worry about it then. All right. So which one are we doing now? I was going. Oh, I could just do that. Yeah, probably. Uh, I did the Kentucky.
I just tried dragons milk. No, they don't like alcohol. What's up with that? I actually like the whiskey. But what about this one? I can see that one.
Oh, sad day for you. Let's see this Guinness. Oh, they're probably gonna have Guinness. Yeah, they've got you better have no Guinness, bro. Really? What about Sam Adams? The, oh, Sam Adams are we sure the bar codes are matching up?
I can buy you. Yeah. So what it is is the first little bit is like their inventory control number. So that's why. So Sam Adams was 76. Ok. So Guinness, I had a Guinness last night.
This is so weird. Why? Mm. Mm. Yes. What is it? It's 43 but it's 43.
Like, I don't care. I ain't touching you. Uh, where's did you just say tequila? Oh, boy. All right. 00, you might not be able to scan the tequila. No. Why is it all behind him? What the heck is it stolen? Oh, they have four roses? Oh. What for her? There's a stone basil.
Hate it because it's stolen. Stolen. Yeah, probably. That's why he's behind glass. This didn't you? Ok. I can see the Don Julio being behind there. Holy crap. Yeah, that's expensive. And that's on sale.
Doesn't have expensive taste at all. Are you gonna t to? Mhm. Ok. Bye bye. What was that? 24. No, limited edition. I love my limited edition stuff. Yeah. But limited edition may not be in there. Oh, freak. It's Starbucks. Of course it is. No, it's 40. Yeah, I don't want it. So it falls below your number. Cottage Jesus. It's disgusting on so many levels. Where's the barcode? Where? Oh, there it is. Bar code. Cottage. Can I eat? You? Be a, be a, be a 10 nothing.
We'll do you again. Yeah. Stop getting the cow and get the bar code. I don't like cottage cheese. That's interesting. They didn't come back with anything at all.
Maybe restart the app. Yeah, it might be. It's cottage cheese is not delicious.
What about milk though. Tell us about the milk dough. So, would they have Kemp's milk? I don't know. Which milk do you get? Whole milk? Baby? Called the Fat? Yes, this is America. Ok. No. What's wrong with you? Because they don't like camps.
They're probably not going to have over wis because it's too good. Where's the, what up? Oh, it's on the top. I knew that. No. Well, fine, apparently milk is a no go milk, milk don't exist.
I'm sure they have like Horizon Organic. No, they don't. What I was saying? The Horizon Organic. What is that? Never heard of you before? I see. I mean, I see. I'm sorry. How about land or lakes? What you mean that the butter?
You know, now that they're Indian we take first we kick him off our land. Oh my God. Wow. You realize it's recording, right? Ok. You, you got 56%. All right. You are. You pass for me, man. All right. You can have butter. Course, course. Coffee creamer toffee mate. 00 sugar too. Yeah. Uh What is he? 40? Don't pass my test now. Yep. 49 or 50 or above.
Wait, what are the Brookshires is a 96 Brookshire grocery company giving you very alternatives there. Yeah. But can I get that here right now? Because it's telling you off top where? Yeah. Well, I can. Ok. What else do you, does your mother get you free to drink? No orange? Juice. No, sunny d, no Tropicana.
No, no, I don't need that. What? No, no, no. Ok. I can't control where the dots go. Well, you should work on it.
Um, so I've gotten a couple of these lately. What are these Celsius? Yeah. Ok. Are you? Ok, for, so for now you're ok. Pass the test. Uh, where's the, get your, oh, theater?
It's gonna be low. It's gonna be bad. Get over here. It's on the top. Wow. Why would you do that? Get that bar code? What is it? 36? All right here. Try this. What is that? Yeah, you have to stop drinking this now.
Core hydration missing, missing. So you're OK. What's my rains at? Oh yeah. What's your rain at 22? 22? Try again. I said try again. Hey, was that 71?
Look at that what I'm talking about, man. Uh Wait, I already forgot the Gatorade that was like 20 something. You know, there's a history in the app too. Uh So you can, I don't know how to get to it from here. How do you know it's there because it's on the main screen? But I don't like if I try doing a swipe back in the app, it's like, do you wanna exit profile?
Oh, you just click on the top logo. Save the list. I don't have a history. Hold on Aaron Reid Gator is 36. That's right. OK. There you go. Uh Let's see here. What else here? Let's do power. Aid. Power, aid, aid, my power. Does it aid your power? No. Ok. Well, did I even get the 40 one, I guess. Isn't this like coconut milk?
No, I am not 41 2. Ok. I thought it was, it's a con of milk when you have. No, you don't have to keep, I mean, they probably have a coconut flavor thing or coconut water, coconut. So, it's coconut water. Did you already say that one though? Yeah, we already know the 60 eight or 60 liquid Death two. Wait, what, where does it say? Two? No, no, I'm saying when you scan it. Like what? Oh, well, that's some funky art work. It's great. Uh, what, what it can save your gross.
It's like a fruit. Oh, my phone. It's a fruit of some sort. It's icky that's missing maybe one of them more. I, I would go with the traditional one because this is mingle chainsaw. That's weird. Go with their standard mountain.
Yeah, that, that, that's the mountain water. It's the standard. I'm afraid to touch the bottom of these. All right. We cycle death to plastic. Oh, ok. All right. Well. Oh, try against stupid. Wait, what not? Get, get that bar code that you are nonexistent. New bigger can. Oh, that might be. Why is that, what changed the U PC? Do they have individual liquid deaths?
